Parkour/Freerunning

***NEW CLASS*** Parkour/Freerunning

  • We are excited to offer a new Parkour/Freerunning Class. Taking registration now!
  • Parkour originated from the French work Parcours (meaning the way through) and was solely based on efficient movements derived and used by the french military. It was based solely on efficiency and speed, there was no flare/artistry/flipps or anything related, only the most efficient way to get from point A to point B. However, the sport has evolved and changed a lot and the sub-branch of freerunning was born. Freerunning is what many people view as Hardcore Parkour. Lots of people see it as crazy kids jumping off building and roofs, but this is not the case at all. The way most experienced pratctioners view the sport is a lifestyle (a way of looking at an envrionment and overcoming obstacles in your own way). It is not a competitive sport, because developed individual styles are so subjective. However, there is a large number of foundational skils that all traceurs should have and a lot of different techniques for take-offs, landings, running, foot-placement that are essential to understand for safer and faster progression.

At Black Hawk Gymnastics & Cheer, we specialize in making gymnastics, cheer, and tumbling FUN! We would like to give you a FREE trial class to try any of our programs! The trial class is subject to class availability.
